Facts and Opinions From a US Citizen
Islam-biased history textbooks. In collaboration with Citizens For National Security.

In a three-year research project begun in 2009, CFNS together with Dr. Gary Newman, uncovered over 200 excerpts from K-12 history and geography textbooks used across the U.S. – almost half of them in Florida – that exemplified blatant Islamic bias. The revelation that Islamists had successfully penetrated their beliefs into K-12 public-school classrooms through the manipulation of textbook content triggered a nationwide reexamination of the textbook selection process. CFNS’s investigations of pro-Islam content in middle- and high-school textbooks have been cited in media such as FOX News, NPR, and USA Today. These persistent efforts by Citizens For National Security over the past five years have paid off!

As a result of our direct intervention, the largest publisher of American school books, Pearson Prentice Hall, had to correct and reprint at their own expense, an Islam-slanted textbook that it intended to sell to Florida’s Palm Beach County School District, 11th largest in the nation. CFNS involvement also caused Florida’s Miami-Dade School District, the nation’s 4th largest school district, to phase out seven Islam-slanted textbooks following our presentation to its school officials.

In 2016, CFNS was selected to be on a committee to review and recommend social studies textbooks to the Palm Beach County School Board for purchase, working directly with the textbook publishers on the content in their new versions while they are being drafted in the lead-up to Florida’s next adoption cycle, making sure that there is no bias, as opposed to trying to remove objectionable textbooks after they are printed and distributed.
