Facts and Opinions From a US Citizen

A few years ago, I apologized to my grandson for leaving him a country I no longer recognize. The response was huge. With tears, Apology 2.0.

Harry, the America I grew up in truly had spacious skies, amber waves of grain, and was crowned with brotherhood. Back in 1776, our country began as a work in progress. In 2021, it still is, but is becoming increasingly unrecognizable to me as the Progressive agenda is materializing. Our cultural heritage is under attack. You will not be taught the history I was taught. Our Founders and my heroes will be your racists. Authors such as Shakespeare, Twain, and Dr. Seuss will be inaccessible to you.

We used to be different from all others in the stability of our government. Election results used to settle our political differences. Today, they are so corrupt as to deem them illegitimate. HR1 (deserves its own article), which federalizes elections, will make fraud certain and create a “crisis of faith” for decades. It will end this Republic as we know it. The minority will have no voice. Rules will change as needed with no umpires. Open borders, in addition to unfettered entry of gun, sex, drug traffickers, and diseased illegals (by the millions), guarantees new voters. Non-citizen voters.

Our government used to function on mutual respect and compromise. Today, it has virtually ceased to function. Instead, slander, smearing, rumors, name calling, and guilt by accusation are the new rules. Our chief adversaries are China, Russia, and Iran. Right or wrong, when they identify a problem, they deal with it, usually harshly, but quickly. We argue what to call it.

Information, so easy to access today, has become dishonest. My generation listens to people who claim they know. They are nothing more than opinion brokers who don’t know and know they don’t know. Their agenda is more important than truth. But they are believed which raises them to be evangelicals of power and obedience.

Work is becoming optional. Our government continues to borrow and support the unproductive. It insists that the rich pay their “fair share.” My generation has never been able to tell me how much that is…….exactly. Maybe your generation will figure it out.

The new word of the day is “diversity.” Hirings and promotions for everything from commercial pilot to college professor are based on racial and ethnic diversity, not merit. Progressives see this as having a positive impact on the country’s culture. Hmmm. I wonder how many would feel that way when flying commercial knowing the pilot is not the most qualified available. While they scream diversity, they do not tolerate diversity of………….opinion.

Censorship has squashed free speech. Information brokers now decide what we should and should not hear or read. The new trend is called “cancel culture.” When you express your opinions, you endanger your safety, career, and social acceptability. (McCarthy 2.0) Read the Constitution!! It restricts Congress, not big tech, from infringing on our inalienable rights!!!. Perhaps someone should inform the millions of illegals risking their lives to get here, police abuse and systemic racism is rampant.

My country has become a Bizarro world where gender is a choice, where we are told to depend on renewable energy that is not dependable, where police are the bad guys and inmates are the victims, where the solution for increasing crime is defunding the police, where looting, vandalism, and arson are not only tolerated but called “peaceful,” where bail has been abolished to create “equity” and make arrests meaningless.

I apologize again, Harry. I didn’t think it would be this bad this soon. One thing is clear. I don’t know the answer but I can offer you some advice. It is impossible to form opinions based on information from 1 source. Always, always get informed from more than 1……make sure it’s from both sides of the issue. And then be prepared to change your mind if more info “suddenly” appears. Yes, they will hide it or deny it exists. Learn American history, 1776, not 1619. The most effective to destroy a nation is to deny and obliterate the understanding of their own history. Read 1984, if it’s still available. When I read it in HS, it was fiction. Hmmm. If all this sounds cynical, it’s because it is. The info brokers in my time made me that way. Unfortunately, sweetheart, I have to leave the solution to you. I hope and pray you do a better job than I did.
