Facts and Opinions From a US Citizen

In part 1, I told you why Hamas/Iran invaded Israel. Those were truths, but there’s also spin out there. The Hamas “military operation” was in response to the atrocities Palestinians and their holy sites like the Al-Aqsa Mosque have faced over the decades. We want the international community to be aware of them and act to stop them. This is the final battle to end the last occupation on earth. Ok, enough nonsense. It’s time to play Myths vs. Facts.

Myth: Arabs continuously complain that Israel was stolen from them.

Fact: Never mind the statements of legitimacy and recognition of a Jewish state by the international community. The Arab claim is based on inherited historical control. First, Arabs are native to Arabia, not Palestine. They took Palestine by military conquest and lost it to Christian Crusaders and later the Ottoman Empire.

Romans renamed Israel and exiled Jews in 135 CE to try to erase Jewish connection to Israel. There has never been an independent state of Palestine under Arab rule, or any rule. There is no mention of Jerusalem in the Quran.

Myth: If Israel just allowed Palestinians to have a state of their own, there would be peace.

Fact: They have been offered peace 7 times that I know of. 1936. Arabs and Jews were sharing what was then called the Palestine Mandate. There was non-stop violence. The Peel Commission concluded that in order to stop it a 2 state solution was needed (sound familiar?). Lines were drawn. 80% Arab, 20% Jewish. Jews accept. Arabs reject…#1. 1947. UN partition Resolution 181. Jews accept. Arabs reject…#2. 1967. Egypt, Syria, Jordan attack (6 day war). They lose. Israel captured Gaza, West Bank, Jerusalem. Gave Gaza back to Egypt. Gave West Bank back to Jordan. Kept Jerusalem. A few months later the Arab League met in Sudan a 2 state solution. Ready? The end result was the infamous 3 no’s: no peace, no recognition, no negotiation. Reject…#3. 2000. Arafat was offered at Camp David an independent state of Palestine, all of Gaza, most of the West Bank, and a capital in East Jerusalem. Reject…#4. 2008. Another attempt, this time by PM Olmert. Better deal than before…no luck. Reject #5. 2014. Attempt by John Kerry…Nope…Reject #6. 2020. Proposal by Trump. No go. Reject #7.

Myth: The Palestinian’s top priority is peace. A Palestinian state would pose no threat to Israel.

Fact: This one’s easy. I’ll show you 2 quotes and you decide. Hamas Charter Article 7: the day of judgment will not come until Muslims kill the Jews, when the Jew will hide behind stone and trees.” Article 13: There is no solution for the Palestinian question except thru Jihad. Initiatives, proposals, and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors.”

On May 14, 1948, the date of Israeli independence David ben Gurion delivered a speech. Here is an excerpt from that speech: “We appeal…to the Arab inhabitants of the State of Israel to preserve peace and participate in the upbuilding of the State on the basis of full and equal citizenship and due representation in all its provisional and permanent institutions. We extend our hand to all neighboring states and appeal to them to establish bonds of cooperation and mutual help with the sovereign Jewish people settled in its own land. The State of Israel is prepared to do its share in common effort for the advancement of the entire Middle East.” I’m sorry. What was the question again?

There is 1 concern that is often, too often, asked. What is the Jewish claim to the land of Israel?………..Part 3
