Couldn’t help it.
At least the guessing is over. Even the most ardent of Obama apologists can no longer call him a friend of Israel. Statements like “right to defend itself” and “closest ally” pale in comparison to reality: disrespect for Netanyahu at the White House; talking about Israeli “occupation” at the UN; a return to ’67 borders as a pre-condition to peace talks; make a deal or “suffer the consequences” statement; cancelling flights to Ben Gurion Airport; proposing one-sided and humiliating cease fire terms; 2015 budget cuts for Israeli defense; numerous State Department statements like being “appalled by Israel’s disgraceful shelling.”
The last straw was the stoppage of a missile shipment and then tightening procedures for future shipments. The US/Israeli defense departments military cooperation had been on autopilot. No longer. Now all shipments must go through our State Department and Obama must sign off on them. Increased scrutiny, bureaucratic delays, and leverage for Obama. You know who your friends are in times of trouble. This latest action can only be described as an attack and indefensible.
Obama says nothing when: hospitals, homes, mosques, and UN schools are used as rocket arsenals; civilians are used as shields; civilians are beaten when they try to escape after being warned by the IDF; civilians are executed when they protest peacefully against Hamas; Israeli civilians are targeted. This latest arms policy has un-mosqued, oops, I mean unmasked Barak Hussein Obama. Remember, this is a president who was educated in a Muslim private school, bows to Saudi kings, apologizes for America while on foreign soil, supported an Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood president, and capitulates to Syria and Iran.
There are some who will say “but he ok’d the Iron Dome.” True. But he also ok’d $500 million in annual aid for the Palestinians. He also just ok’d a $47 million bonus in “humanitarian” aid. Hmmmm. Just in time to re-stock rockets and buy materials for tunnels. And, by the way, anyone who gives Obama credit for the “Iron Dome,” consider this. It’s a monument to his ineptness and his need to protect Israel’s enemies. That’s right, Israel’s enemies! No need for an “Iron dome” if he could broker a peace agreement. He knew he had no shot. And how much of Gaza would exist if some of those rockets actually did some real damage? And what does Obama demand from Arabs on Israel’s behalf? Peace? Security? Recognition? Nope! Promises!! Promises from those who have started 5 wars, violated countless cease fires, whose Charter calls for Israel’s “obliteration,” and whose latest strategy called for the kidnapping of 100s of Israeli children on Rosh Hashanah. What could go wrong?
Maybe there’s another explanation for his Israel-bashing. Could he be using it to detract from his other failings: the jobless recovery; the endless lies about Obamacare, IRS, NSA, and Benghazi; the growth of ISIS; the army of illegal immigrants. Nah. I’m missing something. Hmmm….. I have it. It’s fashionable to be anti-Semitic these days. He thinks it’s all Israel’s fault! Those Jews, they overreacted again. Or, it’s those settlements. Or, it’s the blockade. Or, if they would just stop kidnapping gentile children during Passover. Or, if they hadn’t killed Jesus. Or…Or…Or… Get it?
No doubt about it. Obama (and the UN) are isolating Israel. I’m afraid there’s much more at stake here than rockets, tunnels, or cease fires. Israel now knows with 100% certainty that if they must launch against Hamas, Hezbollah, ISIS, or Iran, Obama will not support them. When he describes the US/Israel alliance as “unshakable” and Israel’s security as “non-negotiable,” Israel now knows these are just a continuation of a pattern of lies. Israel is alone…….for another 2 years anyway.
PS. Mr. President. I have 2 tickets for the Met. Shortly it will be showing “The Death of Klinghoffer.” In case you have forgotten, he was the 69 year old Jew in a wheel chair aboard the Achille Lauro in 1985 who was thrown overboard by Palestinian terrorists. The opera defends the Palestinian position. Just to tempt you with an example of the lyrics, “Where ever poor men gather, you will find Jews getting fat.”
