Facts and Opinions From a US Citizen

“It really is sad that Christians are just as likely to be terrorist as Islamist, the only difference is who is currently controlling the narrative.”

A Hmmm Really follower comments:

When one plants an apple seed eventually they get an apple tree. If you plant rose seeds maybe not tomorrow or the next day but eventually you will get a rose bush. We (the western world) have planted seeds of violence and intolerance for many many years. It is only natural that seeds of violence sprout and become bushes, groups and waves of violence. The way to limit this and eventually stop this is by planting seeds of love and understanding.

The biggest most important life lesson I ever learned through —- was that we all have more in common than we are different. This is the seed that we need to plant asap.

1) Money isn’t the source of their recruitment ability. We give them power… Our drones kill countless civilians, we have overthrown too many governments to count. We constantly rob Africa. We demonize their belief system (in spite of the fact that Islam and Christianity are at its core branches in the same tree). These are what makes it easier for them to recruit.

2) The west cannot destroy their movement. Only others in their communities, their mosque and their social settings can do that… But when you have people suggesting to destroy all innocent civilians have ever known, when you have Israel getting away with genocide, when you have America constantly doing wrong WHY would everyday Muslims stand up and fight a fight of peace and love within their own communities?

3) This notion that Islam is taking over is pure bs… It is Christian coaches leading prayers in the middle of a football field, it is presidential candidates claiming they would never vote for a Muslim, it is government officials saying Islam is a religion of hate and violence… It really is sad that Christians are just as likely to be terrorist as Islamist, the only difference is who is currently controlling the narrative.

Just remember if you plant the seed of violence you will without doubt have violence return.

Response from Dr. Gary Newman:

Your comments are revealing. You define yourself by them. Radical Islam and terrorism are America’s fault, are the Christians’ fault, are Israel’s fault. Everyone else is to blame except the ones who really are to blame.

Let me educate you. Radical Islam is not a religion. It is a cult. It is a political philosophy whose goal is to create a global Caliphate under Sharia Law. The targets? Anyone, and I mean anyone, who does not submit to our brand (Sunni) of Islam. No negotiation. No exception. All who do not submit must be killed. They do not discriminate, as evidenced by the recent attacks in Paris and Beirut. “…make jihad against the nonbelievers and the hypocrites and be brutal to them…” That’s not American teaching nor the Old or New Testament, pal, that’s the Qur’an- sura 9:73. Hmmm. Any questions?

Specific to your post. We don’t “demonize their belief system.” They demonize their own. They’re the ones who chop off heads and burn people alive on YouTube. They’re the ones who kidnap, rape, and murder young girls for the crime of going to school. They’re the ones who encourage our youth to strap bombs to their chests and murder innocents for the glory of Allah. If we are guilty of anything, it’s that we tolerate it. America is not stronger if we tolerate ideologies that promise to replace ours with theirs. That, my friend, is cultural suicide.

Also, according to you, our demonization of their violent, global ambitions “make it easier for them to recruit.” Let me educate you again. What makes it easier for them to recruit is their continued success. They target young, impressionable people who listen to compelling sermons on the internet and in Mosques, and are encouraged by family members. The Paris message is simple. You have threatened to “contain us and then destroy us.” We cannot be contained. We are already global. Therefore, we cannot be destroyed. Come join us for the glory of Allah. A very attractive message to impressionable, potential recruits. They appear correct until they are proven incorrect. You must take the glory out of their bluster. You must kill them. Their rules, not ours.

Next, we did not “plant the seed of violence.” It is they who have declared war on the rest of the world. It is they who have proven they are prepared to accomplish their Jihad on anyone, at anytime, by any means. Finally, this mentality of its everyone else’s fault makes you part of the problem. Using your strategy maybe one day you’ll wake up and praying or just carrying the Bible in school will be unconstitutional, or displaying the American flag will be called “offensive,” or the pledge will be optional, or terrorists will be called “freedom fighters,” or pressing 1 for English won’t seem strange at all. Yes, our legacy to our children will be a country where evil is good and right is wrong and George Orwell will have written non-fiction.
